Description
Some days a child’s world feels wide open – full of room for connection, conversation, learning, and play. Other days even one extra request feels too heavy. This resource helps children and teens understand why.
My Capacity Bubble is a visual, compassionate guide designed for Neurodivergent children (8+), teens, and the adults who support them. It introduces capacity as something that changes with environment, energy, sensory load, nervous system state, and demands – without blame, judgement, or expectation to push through.
Inside you’ll find:
🫧 gentle explanation of capacity – what expands it and what shrinks it
🫧 worksheets exploring big vs small capacity bubbles
🫧 reflection prompts for noticing internal experience and overload
🫧 a capacity check-in page
🫧 self-advocacy scripts for moments when speaking is hard
It’s a supportive tool for home, therapy, school and everyday life – a way for children to understand themselves and communicate needs with clarity and safety.
This isn’t about coping more – it’s about listening to the body, noticing fatigue, and honouring limits without shame.
Capacity isn’t a measure of effort.
It’s simply what the nervous system can hold.
Helpful for:
• Neurodivergent children and teens
• play therapists, child and adolescent therapists, parents, and educators
• identifying signs of overload before burnout
• building language around needs, rest, and spaciousness
