The Neuroaffirming Practice

The Neuroaffirming Practice is the professional learning and reflective arm of my work. It brings together workshops, focus groups, and professional spaces designed for therapists and allied professionals working alongside Neurodivergent children and young people.

Why I Created It

Over time, I kept noticing how often therapists are holding significant complexity in their work – particularly when supporting Neurodivergent clients – with very little space to pause, reflect, and question the frameworks we’ve inherited.

Many traditional models were not built with Neurodivergent experience in mind. Yet therapists are still expected to apply them seamlessly.

The Neuroaffirming Practice grew from a desire to create space for slower thinking, relational depth, and conversations that hold nuance rather than rush toward certainty.

Who This Is For

This space is for therapists, clinicians, educators, and allied professionals who:

  • work with Neurodivergent children and adolescents
  • are questioning dominant deficit-based models
  • want to deepen their relational and contextual understanding
  • are seeking professional spaces that prioritise reflection over prescription

Workshops

Workshops within The Neuroaffirming Practice are live, online learning spaces designed to explore specific themes in depth — such as PDA, distress, burnout, relational dynamics, and neuroaffirming adaptations to practice.

These sessions combine structured teaching with reflective space. The focus is not on rigid techniques, but on expanding understanding, language, and perspective.

Workshops are held online to allow accessibility across locations and are typically 90–120 minutes in length.

Focus Groups

Focus groups are smaller, reflective professional spaces, usually limited to 4–5 participants. These are not teaching sessions, but collaborative conversations.

They provide space to:

  • bring clinical questions

  • reflect on relational tensions

  • explore neuroaffirming adaptations

  • hold complexity collectively

Focus groups are designed to feel contained, thoughtful, and dialogical. They are particularly suited to therapists who value shared reflection and slower, more nuanced conversation.
